  • Graduate Research Forum – Visions for Tomorrow’s Energy System
    Jahrestagung KIT-Zentrum Energie / Doktorandensymposium

     

    On 16 July 2026, the KIT Centre for Energy is hosting the Graduate Research Forum – Visions for Tomorrow’s Energy System at the "Fortbildungszentrum für Technik und Umwelt" (KIT-FTU) in Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen, KIT-Campus North.

    This English-language event offers PhD students in the field of energy the opportunity to present their research findings to a wide audience, discuss current challenges of the energy transition, and network with other early-career researchers at KIT. The focus is on professional exchange, new ideas for the energy system of the future, and raising the profile of excellent research work.

     

    Agenda (brief overview)

     

    • 13:30–13:40: Welcome (Dr Walter Tromm)
    • 13:40–14:20: Keynote ‘Inertial Fusion’ (Prof. Dr Markus Roth, TU Darmstadt) with discussion
    • 14:20–14:30: Presentation of the KIT Graduate School ENZo (Heike Kull)
    • 14:30–15:00: Presentation of selected PhD student videos
    • 15:00–16:40: Poster session with coffee & snacks
    • 16:40–16:55: Award ceremony for the best PhD student video (EnBW Foundation)
    • until 17:00: Closing remarks (Dr Walter Tromm)

     

    A particular highlight is the EnBW Foundation’s video competition. Selected PhD student videos will be presented during the symposium; the best video will then be awarded a prize. The traditional poster session also provides an opportunity for technical discussions and personal exchanges.
