Strategic dialogue with Siemens Energy at KIT

  • Siemens Energy Besuch KIT

Together we can do more. This was the guiding principle behind the visit by a ten-member delegation from Siemens Energy to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology on February 25.

The day began at Campus South with a strategic exchange: a welcome and overview of KIT by Prof. Dr. Thomas Hirth, innovation perspectives from Siemens Energy (including Dr. Jaap van Kampen, Dr. Stefan Raab, and Dr. Christoph Heinze)—and an intensive, open discussion on joint future fields.
The event continued at the LTI with a presentation of E-MAP (Energy Materials Acceleration Platform) by Dr. Holger Röhm —a self-driving lab for AI-supported materials development.

At the North Campus, the working lunch at the KIT Center for Energy with Dr. Walter Tromm, Prof. Dr. Tabea Arndt (ITEP), and Prof. Dr. Veit Hagenmeyer (IAI), as well as the presentations by Energy Lab and High Power Grid Lab (HPGL) , focused on specific research infrastructures, their capabilities, and their results. The subsequent workshop on SCADA/PCA and power electronics topics with Prof. Dr. Marc Hiller (ETI) deepened the discussion at the working level.

Since the MoU in November 2023, our partnership has been systematically developed through a project team that meets every two weeks, comprising members from Siemens Energy and the KIT Center for Energy. The visit once again demonstrated how robust this structure is—with clear points of connection ranging from AI & Energy Materials to grid resilience and power electronics. Thank you very much—we are very much looking forward to continuing our collaboration and implementing our goals and ideas!
